It’s an exciting day at Ultralets HQ as we further expand our team with new recruit, Sophie Ombler. Sophie joins our growing Lettings team and will be trained up to deliver the same five star service as the rest of the team, learning all about the property market in Hull.
Get to know Sophie better in this Q&A:
How’s your first day going?
I’m really enjoying it. It’s my first role in the lettings industry so as you can imagine I have lots of questions but all of the team are so helpful and approachable.
I’ll be working on a MacBook here which is completely new to me, usually I work on Windows so I’ve been busy getting to grips with that this morning and setting up all the necessary apps.
I’m familiarising myself with all the Ultralets systems and procedures to get settled in at the moment - so far, so good!
What will your role consist of?
To start with it sounds like it’s going to be mainly admin-based: adding properties to the website, arranging viewings, sorting applications and liaising with landlords. It’s going to be a big learning curve but I’m up for the challenge!
In the future I’m excited about potentially being able to carry out viewings and get out on the road. In fact, I’m going to be shadowing Tina tomorrow whilst she does her viewings, I’m really looking forward to learning about this part of the business.
What’s your background?
I worked in recruitment for 4 years which has helped me to develop skills that can be used for my new role. I’m used to dealing with customers and arranging appointments in my previous role, it was really customer facing which lends itself to what I’ll be doing at Ultralets.
Why did you decide on a new career in lettings?
I’ve always been interested in property... making my own home look nice, following home influencers on social media and watching property programmes on TV. It felt natural to me to progress into a career about something I’m genuinely passionate about.
In my previous recruitment role I used to find positions for people in property roles and I always felt so envious! So pleased I’ve managed to transfer over to the industry.
Why did you apply to work at Ultralets?
I’ve followed them for a while on social media and from the off it was clear to me that they’re the leading letting agency in the area. Even down to things like the paperless approach they have... the process they follow is almost entirely digital which was really appealing for me.
The team’s extremely friendly and welcoming and the offices are really modern, I can already tell it’s going to be a really nice working environment here.
