Renting? Here's how to be a responsible tenant

03 May 2023

Being a tenant can be a great way to live in a home without having to worry about the costs and responsibilities of homeownership. However, it's important to be a good tenant to maintain a positive relationship with your landlord and managing agent (us) and avoid any problems.

Here are some tips on how to be a good tenant:
  • Pay your rent on time. This is the most important thing you can do as a tenant. You could be evicted if you don't pay your rent and build up arrears. So, make sure you set aside money for rent each month and pay it on time.
  • Take care of the property. This means keeping the property clean and in good repair. If something breaks, try to fix it yourself first. If you can't fix it, report it through our repair portal. For emergencies, contact our emergency line.
  • Be respectful of your neighbours. This means keeping the noise down and being mindful of their property.
  • Be communicative. If you have any problems with the property, don't hesitate to contact us. We're here to help you.
  • Be a responsible pet owner. If the property you are renting allows pets, you must ensure they are not damaging or soiling anything. This means picking up after your pet and disposing of it properly.
Being a good tenant is important for both you and your landlord. By following these tips, you can help to ensure a positive and enjoyable rental experience for everyone involved.
