Don't run the risk of not using an agency

11 May 2018

It can be tempting to rent directly from a private landlord - it starts off all well and good, but suddenly things can turn sour when a repair needs to be made, a payment is late or another problem arises.

Although some private landlords do things properly, unfortunately there are many out there who give the rest a bad name. Our advice is to always rent through a letting agent - it’s our job to make sure everything runs smoothly for both the tenant and the landlord.

In this blog post, we share the benefits you get with an agency that you don’t get with going directly through a private landlord:

A reliable point of contact

We’re in the office 5 days a week so you know where we are should you want to pop in and ask any questions. You can also catch us on the phone, over email or get in touch using the live chat feature on our website.

Official procedures and paperwork

We do everything by the book so you know exactly what you’re entitled to. There’s no quibbles over when you need to pay your rent until should you want to give notice and everything is agreed before your tenancy starts so you know exactly where you stand. If you report a repair to your property, we keep a paper trail of communication and follow our repairs procedure to ensure any maintenance is carried out to a high standard and in a timely fashion.

Advice on your rights as a tenant

As part of our service, we’re happy to answer any questions you may have about your rights as a tenant. We make it our aim to assist you with any queries and help you to reach a solution. Plus - we’re members of an ombudsman (TPOS) so if there are any issues at all throughout your tenancy then you can contact them.

Experience handling difficult situations

We’ve been in this industry for years, you name it and we’ve handled it! Our team work towards reaching decisions on many situations that both parties are happy with. Using an agent means that we negotiate on your behalf and you don’t have to deal directly with your landlord.

Key handling

We can gain access to your rental property in case of an emergency as we have a spare set of keys stored away securely should we need to use them.

Your rent and deposit is held safely

Our comprehensive accounting system means that you’ll always know where you are with your rent. We give receipts and all rent payments are traceable. The deposit you put down is insured through the DPS and all our client money is all insured too.
